Mikel’s father: Security agencies comb Jos

Vanguard "Security agencies have combed Jos in a security net as the search for Michael Obi, the abducted father of football star John Mikel Obi gathers pace.

Desmond Agwu, Regional Head of the State Security Service (SSS), said that a thorough sweep of the state was initiated as soon as information about the abduction was received.

“I met with my division heads immediately we got information and I can tell you that we have started sweeping the whole state."

Court frees boy prisoner

The Namibian Newspaper: "THE High Court yesterday ordered the immediate release of a 12-year-old boy who became Namibia's youngest sentenced prison inmate after receiving a six-month jail term for housebreaking and theft at Karasburg in October.

In a review judgement handed down by Judge Elton Hoff, Acting Judge Claus Hinrichsen set aside the boy's conviction and sentence and ordered his immediate release from detention.

Judge Hoff agreed with Acting Judge Hinrichsen's decision, which was based on the principle that a child as young as the boy is presumed not to be criminally liable, especially where he had been involved in a crime while under the influence and instructions of a much older person.
The boy was sentenced to six months' imprisonment on October 19, after he had been convicted in the Karasburg Magistrate's Court on a charge of housebreaking with intent to steal and theft."

Kate Kainja passes away

Nyasa Times"Minister of Women and Child Development Kate Kainja-Kaluluma has passed away in United Kingdom.
“Indeed Hon Kate Kainja Kaluluma has died,” confirmed family friends in London.
The 57-year-old minister was admitted to a North England hospital – York Hospital.
Diplomatic sources at Malawi High Commission in London have said arrangements are being made to send her remains to Malawi.
Kainja who was Dedza South West Constituency parliamentarian flew to United Kingdom for medical attention after a long-illness.
She is survived by a husband, Emanuel Kaluluma and three children."
