It has been four weeks since Robert Mugabe and Morgan Tsvangirai signed a power-sharing deal but both sides have failed to agree on cabinet positions. On the fourth day of talks to try to resolve the standstill, Sir David talks to Arthur Mutambara, who will become the deputy prime minister, in the new government.

Talks on Zimbabwe Power-Sharing At An Impasse

Discussions on the composition of a unity government for Zimbabwe are in the hands of mediators, after political leaders failed to reach agreement during initial talks. The power-sharing deal calls for long-time President Robert Mugabe to share power with the opposition Movement for Democratic Change and its leader Morgan Tsvangirai. VOA's Chris Simkins looks at the challenges in forming a new government and efforts to get international aid to people who are starving.

Angry opposition MPs booed Mugabe when he declared that 'landmark agreements have been concluded with every expectation that everybody will sign up'. Opposition MPs later sang 'Zanu-PF is rotten' with a number of senior Movement for Democratic Change leaders present despite the party earlier indicating it would boycott the opening over the lack of progress in power-sharing negotiations."

Zimbabwean calls Mugabe a 'female genital organ' : "A 35-year-old man has appeared in court in a southern Zimbabwean town for allegedly describing President Robert Mugabe, the country's tyrannical 84-year-old leader, as a female genital organ. Pinas Magago was discussing politics with friends in a hotel bar in the town of Masvingo last week and accused Mugabe of running down the country, said the independent Standard newspaper."
