Al-Mustapha’s Lawyer Wants Media Blackout

Counsel to Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, Mr. Olalekan Ojo, Monday demanded a media blackout of the proceedings of the trial of his client at the Lagos High Court to shield the accused from a possible trauma of sensationalised reporting.
Thisdayonline Al-Mustapha, who was Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, is standing trial for the murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola.

Making the demand before the trial judge, Justice Mojisola Dada, Ojo said his action was predicated on what he called the inaccurate reporting of the proceedings by the media; an exercise which he said was being sensationalised.
