Two fined for overpriced meat

WOW The Kanifing Magistrates Court, presided over by magistrate Sainabou Wadda-Ceesay, yesterday, convicted and sentenced one Fatou Jeng and Essa Ngum to a fine of D1,500 each, in default to serve a one-month imprisonment. The duo pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit misdemeanor.

According to the particulars of the offence, Fatou Jeng and Essa Ngum jointly conspired to commit misdemeanor with cheating on 10 October 2008, at Bakoteh Tipper Garage, in the Kanifing Municipality. Count two has it that on the same day, place and time, Fatou Jeng and Essa Ngum jointly sold meat at the price of D100 instead of D80 per kilo.
