Rule of Law and NDDC’s Funds

THISDAY ONLINE: "President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s recent statement that he would not pay the over N244 billion debt that the Federal Government owes the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, may call to question his commitment to finding lasting solution to the nagging problems of the Niger Delta region. The reason he gave for his pronouncement is that the money has “expired.”
The justification is not acceptable. This is more so because the action will rob the Niger Delta of the much-needed funds for its development."
