Deal averts Zim civil war "A behind-the-scenes negotiated settlement has averted a military coup in Zimbabwe and paved the way for a runoff between Robert Mugabe and Morgan Tsvangirai later this month. According to multiple reliable sources, both within the armed forces and the opposition MDC, Tsvangirai has won 48 percent of the presidential vote, while the incumbent president has taken 43 percent."
