Sudan parties close to election bill deal - minister "JUBA, Sudan, Feb 13 (Reuters) - Sudan's two main parties are close to agreeing on a draft bill paving the way to historic national elections, but remain split over how votes will be counted, a southern minister said on Wednesday.
The elections, planned for 2009, were promised as part of a peace deal that ended more than two decades of north-south civil war and are seen as crucial to the long-term stability of the region."
