MPs in campaign to defeat land bill

Monitor Online "MEMBERS of Parliament have been engulfed in a web of intense lobbying in the past few weeks, designed largely to defeat the controversial Land [Amendment] Bill 2007 ahead of its much-anticipated tabling in the House tomorrow.
In one particular case, MPs from the Acholi Sub-region have written to fellow colleagues in the House, urging them to reject the proposed law on grounds that it will bring about anarchy in the country.
In a January 25 letter, the Acholi Parliamentary Group Chairperson, Mr Livingstone Okello-Okello (Chua County), wrote to colleagues through their regional caucus chairpersons in Parliament, requesting them to discuss the proposed amendments with a 'sober mind'."
