Axe erring firms, Veep orders LCC

Times of Zambia: "VICE-President, Rupiah Banda, has directed the Lusaka City Council (LCC) to terminate contracts of companies, which have failed to carry out satisfactory work on the drainages in some townships affected by floods.
Mr Banda further revealed that the Government was in the process of involving a Chinese contractor who would help drain the water, which was stagnant especially in Kamwala South and Misisi townships.
Mr Banda was speaking when he toured the two flood affected townships in Lusaka yesterday where some schools and shops were forced to close while some residents were found shifting to dry land."
