Katuntu wins Bugweri election

Monitor Online : "The Forum for Democratic Change's Abdu Katuntu has won the by-election for the Member of Parliament for Bugweri, beating his closest challenger and National Resistance Movement candidate Kirunda Kivejinja. Katuntu polled 14,708 votes while Kivejinja polled 12,829.
Kivejinja beat Katuntu in last year's poll, albeit illegally, as court would rule following a petition by the latter.
In that successful petition, Katuntu asserted that Kivejinja had bribed and intimidated votes to secure victory. Katuntu's triumph allows him to regain the position he occupied (as Bugweri MP) in the previous Parliament."
