Govt puts military on standby over Chadian crisis

Thousands of rebels advanced towards the Presidential Palace in N’djamena, the Chadian capital, before they were reportedly stopped by government forces.
Reacting to the development, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Andrew Azazi, said in Abuja that the armed forces personnel had been put on alert to forestall a spillover of the fighting in Chad.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Azazi said the move was also to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity following the outbreak of heavy fighting in N’djamena between Chadian soldiers and rebels forces."
