2 killed as violence, low turn-out mar LG poll

champion newspapers, "Two people were reportedly killed, three buses and seven administrative offices of the State Independent Electoral Commissions in Enugu and Edo states burnt yesterday in an outbreak of violence that marred the local government elections which also recorded low turn out of voters.
In Oyo State, 150 suspects were arrested by the police for various electoral malpractices, while the Deputy Governor, Taofeek Arapaja, was reportedly escaped being lynched by members of the opposition parties who not only alleged that hoodlums disallowed them from monitoring the poll and other malpractices in the polling centres.
Despite the peaceful conduct of the poll in some states, there were reported irregularities with some people calling for the cancellation of the exercise."
